This is the mockup for my 1911 corset that I’m making, it doesn’t look like much now, but it will pretty amazing once I get the final corset madeup and the bones inserted. :)

Absent..

but productive! I haven’t been on Tumblr in a couple of weeks because I’ve been extremely busy with a few projects. I’m currently participating in two sew alongs, one for a 1903 Edwardian corset, and the other for a 1911 post-Edwardian corset. These in themselves have proved quite challenging, so I figured why not add more to my plate? I’m also working on a 1930’s coat from a pattern I bought from Wearing History. I’m also attempting to get myself and my boyfriend ready for the 150th Battle of Shiloh at the end of March, which entails making a wardrobe for him, since he has never been, and adding to mine..So many projects..:)

I really scored big at Sir’s Fabrics in Fayetteville, TN..I picked up these three wool blends for $26, approx. 8 yards altogether..and I believe I’ve already picked what I’m going to make out of them..the teal and gold are both going to be 1940’s dressed, and the grey is probably going to be a skirt, though I haven’t decided on a pattern yet.

I finally found fabric for my Wearing History 1930’s coat pattern! It’s super soft and I got a really good deal on it from JoAnn’s with a coupon. :)

So I might be insane, but..

I’ve decided to participate in two online Sew-Along’s for corsets. One is a 1903 Edwardian corset (http://historicalsewing.com/edwardian-corset-sew-along-sign-up), and the other is a 1911 corset (http://bridgesonthebody.blogspot.com/search/label/sew%20along). They are going on at the same time, which seems nuts, but I don’t think I can live without either of these corsets, and considering I’ve never made a corset, I think it will be quite beneficial to have the help of everyone else involved in the sew along. I’m crossing my fingers! :P

Woot!

I just picked up 8 yards of organza for $14! I think I’m going to use it on a 50’s dress :)

I bought this pattern today and I can’t wait to get it! It’s getting to be coat season and this seems like the perfect warm and fuzzy coat to add to my collection. (I have quite the coat problem :P)

I don’t normally post pictures of my cats, but this is my Valentina, she is the best cat I’ve ever had, and I couldn’t resist posting a picture. I call this her “solving world hunger/pensive” look. She’s my pretty girl!
